Villarreal defeat Real Madrid

Villarreal edged out Real Madrid in a close win on Saturday, 2x1, on to matchday 16 of the La Liga. In this competition, both teams came from two wins.

The first-half ended without any goals.

The first goal was scored by Yéremy Pino after 47 minutes. With 60 minutes on the clock, Karim Benzema struck for Real Madrid, from the penalty spot. Gerard Moreno scored the winner after 63 minutes from the penalty spot.

After the result Real Madrid are 1st in the table, with 38 points, while Villarreal sit 4th place, with 27 points. In relation to forthcoming league matches, Quique Setién's team will play away against Celta de Vigo. Meanwhile, the merengues will play at home against Valencia.
