Dest switches Barcelona for Eindhoven permanently

PSV Eindhoven has activated the buy-out clause in Sergiño Dest's loan contract, thus ensuring the player's continuity. The American full-back remains linked to the Dutch club until 2028.

Although it was initially reported that the buy-out option was around 10 million euros, everything points to the deal being done at no cost. Barcelona retains a percentage of any future sale of the full-back, who they signed from Ajax in 2020 for 21 million euros.

"When he came last year, I knew we were signing a very good player. He has proven that several times at the highest level. This arrival is a great start to this summer's transfer market," said Earnie Stewart, the club's technical director.

Despite being a right-back by trade, Dest contributed with two goals and seven assists from the left side in PSV's campaign, which saw them become champions of the Netherlands and reach the Champions League round of 16. He is not participating in the Copa America due to an injury sustained in May.
