Chicago Fire reached an agreement with Xherdan Shaqiri to terminate his contract. After leaving the MLS club, the 32-year-old player will be free on the market.
It was through the media of the Illinois emblem that the announcement of the separation was made. Georg Heitz, the sports director, wished good luck to the Swiss international's career.
"After discussions with Xherdan, we mutually agreed that the separation is in the best interest of both parties. We thank him for his contributions to the club and wish him success in the next chapter of his career," confirmed Georg Heitz.
With Shaqiri's departure, Chicago Fire now has a vacant spot for an international player in the club.
