Javier Hernández, better known in the soccer world as Chicharito, has publicly apologized after being fined for making sexist comments on his social media.
«I deeply regret any confusion or discomfort that my recent words may have caused. It was never my intention to limit, hurt, or divide», Chicharito wrote on social media.
«I am listening, reflecting, and in the future, I will express myself more clearly, especially on such sensitive issues. I believe that change starts with myself. I will take this opportunity to learn, evolve, and continue working to be a better version of myself, based on honesty, love for my family, my values, and love for all of you...», he added.
It should be noted that the Mexican forward was fined by his club, the Chivas, and by the Mexican Federation, after he posted a video with a series of sexist comments on his social media.
«Do not be afraid to be women, allowing yourselves to be led by a man who just wants to see you happy. Because we do not know Heaven without you. To hold you accountable for your energy is also to love you. We are failing in the lack of commitment, putting our partners last and not prioritizing the words and habits that make us admirable», he said at the time.
Chicharito, it is worth remembering, is the top scorer for the Mexican national team, with 52 goals in 109 games. He has had an extensive career in Europe, where he played for Manchester United, Real Madrid, Bayer Leverkusen, West Ham, and Sevilla.
