      Damaiense edged out by Marítimo

      Marítimo edged out Damaiense in a close win on Sunday, 1-2, in a game related to matchweek 17 of Portuguese Women´s League. In this competition, Kristján Gudmundsson's team came from a win, and Luís Gabriel's team came from six defeats. Gabriela Zidoi was decisive with 1 goal. In the starting XI there was Claire Henninger, Sydney Parker and Jenna Holtz. Sophia Foschi didn't leave the bench.

      The first goal was scored by Sydney Parker after 22 minutes, from a corner. In the 38th minute, Érica Costa struck for Marítimo, with a left-foot strike inside the penalty area.

      In the final minutes of the game, Sade Heinrichs could have scored for Luís Gabriel's team, but Claire Henninger has brilliantly saved the penalty. Gabriela Zidoi scored the winning goal in the closing stages of the game from a corner.

      After the result Marítimo are 9th in the table, with 14 points, while Damaiense sit 10th place, with 11 points. In the next fixture, Luís Gabriel's team will play at home against Valadares Gaia, whilst Kristján Gudmundsson's team will play away against Torreense.
