Bayern Munich kicked off the 2025/26 season on the right foot with a trophy in hand. This Saturday, the Bundesliga champions claimed the German Super Cup by defeating Stuttgart 2-1 in an intense match marked by standout individual performances. With this victory, the Bavarians now have 11 titles in the competition that opens the season in German football.
The match was balanced from the start, with Stuttgart showing offensive daring and testing Manuel Neuer on more than one occasion. However, it was Bayern who opened the scoring at the 18th minute. Following a failed clearance by Jaquez, Harry Kane took advantage of the opportunity and with a precise low shot, scored his seventh goal in just five games against Stuttgart. Stuttgart responded shortly after, but Neuer shone by stopping a point-blank finish from Woltemade, holding the Bavarian lead until halftime.
The second half began with increased nervousness and several complaints directed at the refereeing team. Bayern came close to extending their lead through Kane, but Bredlow kept Stuttgart in the game with a crucial save. On the other side, Leweling almost equalized with a powerful shot from the edge of the box, but Neuer again played a key role, stretching to deny the goal.
The decisive moment came at the 31st minute of the second half, in a play that started with Neuer himself and traveled down the left flank until it ended at the feet of Serge Gnabry. The winger crossed into the area and found Luis Díaz, who headed in Bayern's second goal in his official debut for the club. The Colombian took the opportunity to dedicate the moment to Diogo Jota.
In stoppage time, Stuttgart narrowed the gap through Leweling, who headed a cross into the heart of the area. Hopes were rekindled in the stands, but the final whistle soon followed, confirming the first trophy of the season for Munich. The Bavarian machine starts off in the same way it has often accustomed German football: by winning.
