The debut of Karim Benzema for Al-Hilal was marked by the French star's scoring prowess, as his team thrashed Al-Akhdoud 6-0 in the 21st round of the Saudi Premier League.
It wasn't one, or two, but three goals and an assist from the forward, who opened the scoring at the 31st minute with a backheel (see in the video below) and also brought the score to 0-3 during the second half. He thus contributed to the return to winning ways for the team led by Simone Inzaghi, after three consecutive draws that reignited the title race.
It's worth noting that the forward's transfer, a champion last year with Al-Ittihad Jeddah, led to a strike by Cristiano Ronaldo, who feels that Al-Nassr has not received as much support from the Saudi administration as Al Hilal.
Salem Al-Dawsari and Malcom scored the other goals for the Riyadh squad, which, with this result, reached the 50-point mark. They remain leaders and strong contenders for the Saudi title.
This Thursday was also marked by a 2-0 victory for Al-Ahli Jeddah against Al-Hazm, in a match where Ivan Toney once again found the back of the net, reinforcing his position as the top scorer of the league with 19 goals.
Meanwhile, Al-Najma, led by Mário Silva, added another loss to their record, falling 3-0 to Al-Fayha led by Pedro Emanuel, and remains at the bottom of the standings with just five points.
