      Cruzeiro beat Chapecoense in close encounter

      Cruzeiro overcame Chapecoense in a close win on Sunday, 2-1, relating to matchweek 17 of the Brazil Serie A. Coming into the contest, Artur Jorge's team came from a draw, and Fábio Matias's team came from a defeat.

      The opening goal was scored by Kaio Jorge after 27 minutes, from the penalty spot.

      After 73 minutes, Luis Sinisterra scored the second goal for Cruzeiro, with a left-foot strike inside the box. João Paulo netted the last goal with 79 minutes on the clock.

      After the result Cruzeiro are 8th in the table, with 23 points, while Chapecoense sit 20th place, with 9 points. In relation to forthcoming league matches, Artur Jorge's team will play at home against Fluminense, whilst Fábio Matias's team visit Palmeiras.
