David Raya leads Europe's clean-sheet race

David Raya once again underlined his importance to Arsenal with a decisive performance in their 1-0 win away to Sporting CP in the first leg of their UEFA Champions League quarter-final tie.

Although Kai Havertz struck the late winner in Lisbon, Raya?s contribution proved just as vital. The Spanish goalkeeper produced a series of key saves to frustrate Sporting and help secure what was their first home defeat of this season?s Champions League campaign.

It was another reminder of the goalkeeper?s outstanding form across the 2025/26 season.

Raya now leads Europe?s top five leagues for clean sheets in all competitions, with 22 to his name so far. In the Premier League, he also sits clear at the top of the standings with 15 shutouts, four more than both Jordan Pickford and Gianluigi Donnarumma, who each have 11.

His impact in Europe has been just as impressive. Across 10 Champions League appearances this term, Raya has conceded only three goals while keeping seven clean sheets - the best record in the competition so far.

Consistency has become one of his defining traits. Across the last two seasons combined, the Spanish goalkeeper has made just one mistake that directly resulted in a goal - a statistic that reflects both his composure and reliability at the highest level.

With Arsenal chasing success on multiple fronts, Raya?s form could prove crucial in the weeks ahead as Mikel Arteta?s side continue their push for the Premier League and Champions League titles.
