Regardless of weather conditions, FIFA has confirmed that all 2026 World Cup matches will feature two hydration breaks, one in each half of the game.
The organization advocates for this measure as a necessity to protect the players, as well as an opportunity for coaches to make tactical adjustments and to provide additional advertising space during the broadcast.
The breaks will occur around the 22nd minute of each half and will last for three minutes, with referees adding the stoppage time accordingly.
The 2026 World Cup is set to take place from June 11 to July 19, jointly hosted by Canada, United States, and Mexico.
