        Japan edge past Germany

        Japan beat Germany, 1x2, on Wednesday, in a match relating to the Grp.E of the World Cup. Both Hans-Dieter Flick's team and Hajime Moriyasu's team played their first game in the competition.

        The first goal of the game was scored by Ilkay Gundogan, from the penalty spot, with 32 minutes on the clock.

        After 76 minutes, Ritsu Doan fired home for Japan, with a right-foot strike. Takuma Asano netted the last goal in the 83rd minute with a right-foot strike inside the penalty box.

        In the next fixture, Japan will play against Costa Rica, whilst Germany will play against Spain.
