The Eintracht Frankfurt took to social media on Wednesday afternoon to announce the contract extension of Mario Götze. In what is now his fourth full season at the club, the experienced midfielder has decided to extend his stay with the German side for another two years, until June 2028.
Gotze moved from PSV to Frankfurt ahead of the 2022/23 season and has since made 148 appearances for the club, becoming one of the six captains of the Adler. His current contract was set to expire this summer, but both sides have agreed to continue their partnership.
«Eintracht Frankfurt means a lot to me. I have been here for almost four years and have had a fantastic experience so far. Both my family and I feel at home here. The joy that football and this club give me convinced me to renew my contract», he said in comments released by the club.
At 33 years old, Mario Götze remains a regular feature in Bundesliga matches, having played 18 games so far this season, as well as appearing in seven Champions matches.
A product of Borussia Dortmund's academy, the attacking midfielder also represented Bayern München and spent more than 15 consecutive years linked to German football. After two seasons in the Netherlands, Gotze returned to his home country through the doors of Frankfurt.
