Southampton overcame Lewes in a close win on Sunday, 2-1, relating to matchweek 20 of the Women´s Championship. In this competition, both teams came from a defeat. Emma Thompson made a tremendous game.
Emma Thompson opened the score with 11 minutes on the clock. In the 15th minute, Southampton increased their lead with a goal from forward. Grace Riglar netted the last goal with 40 minutes on the clock.
After the result Southampton are 3rd in the table, with 36 points, while Lewes sit 11th place, with 16 points. In relation to forthcoming league matches, Marieanne Spacey-Cale's team will host London City Lionesses, whilst Natalie Lawrence's team will play at home against Crystal Palace.
