Nottingham Forest midfielder Danilo has completed a permanent move to Botafogo, signing a four-year contract with the Brazilian team.
The 24-year-old joined Forest from Palmeiras in January 2023 in a transaction reportedly valued at ?22 million (£18.5m), which includes bonuses and performance-related clauses.
He quickly made a strong impact, accumulating 62 appearances in all competitions, most of which occurred during his first full season at the City Ground.
Danilo started the 2024/25 season as a key player in midfield, alongside Ibrahim Sangaré, but suffered a major setback on the first day of the season - he sustained a severe ankle injury just minutes into the game against Bournemouth.
This injury sidelined him for several months, and even though he returned to play in January, he found it difficult to regain a regular spot in the starting lineup. He participated in 12 additional matches before the end of the season but was unable to regain his previous form in what had become a highly competitive Forest midfield.
