Forward Paulinho secured another trophy in the early hours of Thursday while playing for Toluca. The former Sporting player started in the victory of the Diablos Rojos against LA Galaxy, with a score of 2-3, which secured the Campeones Cup title - a competition that faces off the winners of the MLS and the Champion of Champions from Mexico.
In the match, the American team took the lead with Diego Fagundez scoring at the 36th minute from a successfully converted penalty.
In the second half, Nicolás Castro tied the game, before Paulinho - who did not score in the match - had his goal disallowed due to an offside position in the play.
Towards the end, with the game still open, Gabriel Pec put the Los Angeles team back in the lead, but Toluca managed to respond just in time. Thanks to goals from Franco Romero and Federico Pereira, they clinched another trophy.
It is worth noting that Paulinho has already scored 11 goals and provided one assist in 13 appearances for Toluca this season.
