The NWSL continues to bet on Europe: Asisat Oshoala reinforces Bay FC
The teams of the National Women's Soccer League (NWSL) continue to prepare for another season of the top tier of women's football
This Thursday, Bay FC, a new club that will make its debut in the competition, announced a major signing: Asisat Oshoala, a Nigerian forward who left FC Barcelona to join the new project in San Francisco.
Oshoala, who was not on the list for the visit to Benfica, was in the final months of her contract with the Catalan club. However, according to international media, Bay FC will have paid around $162,000, which is approximately 139,000, to secure the signing of the striker, a six-time winner of the African Player of the Year award, immediately. The contract between the two parties is valid until 2026, with an additional year option.
An international player for Nigeria, Oshoala represented FC Barcelona for the last five and a half seasons. During this period, she won 13 titles with the Catalan club, including two Champions Leagues, and scored 117 goals in 162 matches, making her the fourth top scorer in the club's history. |
