Carlisle United lose out to Sunderland

Sunderland triumphed over Carlisle United, 5x3, on Tuesday, in a match relating to the Grp.A of the EFL Trophy. Chris Maguire runned the show. Lynden Gooch didn't leave the bench.

In the 6th minute, Lewis Alessandra opened the scoring for Carlisle United, from the penalty spot. After 26 minutes, Chris Maguire struck for Sunderland, from a direct free kick. After 69 minutes, Charlie Wyke doubled the lead for Sunderland, with a right-foot shot. After 72 minutes, Jonathan Mellish struck the second goal for Carlisle's team, from a corner, assisted by Joe Riley. With 82 minutes on the clock, Jonathan Mellish fired home for Chris Beech's team, with a left-foot strike inside the box, after an assist provided by Lewis Alessandra. Jack Diamond netted the last goal in stoppage time with a right-foot shot inside the penalty box.
